Geometric and graphic representation of sculptural heritage: standardised record sheets based on UNE and ISO criteria and standards

Abstract

Documentation of three-dimensional heritage still reveals a significant gap between the current possibilities of 3D digitisation as geometric recording and its effective implementation in conservation-restoration. Traditional documentation methods persist, despite being insufficient to ensure spatial control, comparability and technical review, even with the growing accessibility of digital photogrammetry, 3D scanning and derived outputs. In response, this article proposes a system of standardised record sheets for integrating orthophotographs, cartographies, micrographs and stratigraphies within a single documentary structure. The proposal reviews and adapts UNE and ISO criteria relating to format, identification, view arrangement and scale, taking sculpture as its main field of application because it represents one of the most demanding documentary cases. The aim is to translate the outputs of 3D digitisation into readable, verifiable and transferable technical documentation within the intervention report.
